Pietro Bonacina - The Flowers of Resilience
Pietro Bonacina is a Fashion Design graduate at the Naba academy in Milan. Parallel his studies at the naba academy, he worked as a buyer assistant and visual merchandiser at the renowned Milanese concept store Corso Como 10.
Already at the age of 13, after meeting a Slovenian designer, he designed and created a footwear collection in his name for the company Peko. That was his first experience in the field of fashion and that's when he realized what I wanted to do when he grew up.
He grew up surrounded by footwear, leathers and accessories observing the work of his father, who is a shoemaker in Bergamo. Thanks to him, he learned the passion and love for craftsmanship and understood the absolute importance of knowing the techniques and developing the skills needed to transform a creative idea into a wearable product.
Obviously it is no coincidence that his post-graduate choice was to specialize in pattern making and tailoring at the Afol school in Milan.
His designs develop from deep visual researches coming from different fields: fashion, art, photography, cinema, theater... Each collection is different from the other. Some starts by ephemeral obsessions and others by trials of creating something new.
Pietro's work represents a determined femininity, a return to "retro-like" garments filled with contemporary echoes that blends into tactile poetry and dreamlike atmospheres with structure, strength and form.
The flower as an innocent symbol of birth and reparation; of resilience and of the overcoming of a tragic and difficult period. Small details of light and color suddenly blossomed from a child's notebook, which remind us that from the darkest times you can find the light to go back up and the color to come back to life
