Patrick Everaert - Untitled #3
Patrick Everaert has been exhibiting his artistic work for 30 years in art centres, galleries and museums in Europe. His work consists largely in introducing doubt, duration and amplitude among the phases of perception of the image. It is important to him that the image has a stratified structure, that from a first immediate interpretation, the viewer can proceed to a second, a third, a fourth, layer after layer. Open to all possible meanings, these images give, according to the individual's reflection and cultural tools, a different, renewed and if possible never complete understanding. The aim is to succeed in preserving a hard core that will always resist interpretation, in order to arouse the desire to come back to it, to reconsider the work from different angles. In each creation, he tries to postpone the moment when the image will deliver the last fragment of its identity. To achieve this, he seeks to make the journey from the beginning of the confrontation to the revelation of the work more complex and enriching. If there is a connection between the images created by Patrick Everaert, it is the resistance they show to being understood. The series presented here, although at the limit of abstraction, is the result of photographic shots of a trivial everyday object. The polysemy generated by the image is produced by a simple but effective manipulation.
